Performance Analysis of Selection Combining Over Correlated Nakagami-m Fading Channels with Constant Correlation Model for Desired Signal and Cochannel Interference

    Get PDF
A very efficient technique that reduces fading and channel interference influence is selection diversity based on the signal to interference ratio (SIR). In this pa¬per, system performances of selection combiner (SC) over correlated Nakagami-m channels with constant correlation model are analyzed. Closed-form expressions are obtained for the output SIR probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) which is main contribution of this paper. Outage probability and the average error probability for coherent, noncoherent modulation are derived. Numerical results presented in this paper point out the effects of fading severity and cor¬relation on the system performances. The main contribu¬tion of this analysis for multibranch signal combiner is that it has been done for general case of correlated co-channel interference (CCI)

    Get PDF
Mathematical modelling of the behavior of the radio propagation at mmWave bands is crucial to the development of transmission and reception algorithms of new 5G systems. In this study we will model 5G propagation in nondeterministic line-of-sight (LOS) conditions, when the random nature of LOS component ratio will be observed as Inverse Gamma (IG) distributed process. Closed-form expressions will be presented for the probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of such random process. Further, closed-form expressions will be provided for important performance measures such as level crossing rate (LCR) and average fade duration (AFD). Capitalizing on proposed expressions, LCR and AFD will be discussed in the function of transmission parameters

Improved Composite Q-Function Approximation and its Application in ASEP of Digital Modulations over Fading Channels

    Get PDF
In this paper, capitalizing on Mils ratio for Qfunction approximation, we have presented novel improved composite Q-function approximation. Based on our improved approximation, we have further presented tight approximation for the average symbol error probability (ASEP) expressions of digital modulations over Nakagami-m fading channels. First, comparison to other known Q-function closed-form approximations has been performed, and it has been shown that accuracy improvement has been achieved in the observed range of values. Further, it has been shown that by using proposed approximation, values of average symbol error probability (ASEP) for some applied modulation formats could be efficiently and accurately evaluated when transmission over Nakagami-m fading channels is observed. Also, it has been shown in the paper that by using proposed approximation, observed ASEP measures are bounded more closely, than by using other known Q-function closed-form approximations

In this paper performance analysis of colour image Free Space Optics (FSO) transmission over Double Generalized Gamma (DGG) turbulence communication channel is carried out. At the reception side, we have used an average bit error rate (ABER) for reconstructed image performance measure, as the function of FSO link transmission parameters, such as propagation distance, Rytov variance and turbulence shaping and severity parameters (γ1, γ2, m1, m2). Obtained results cover a large number of colour image FSO transmission scenarios, for Gamma-Gamma, Double-Weibull and K turbulence models channels considered as special cases

By using concept of virtual instrumentation, signals from human body can be digitized and transferred to computer for further processing. Software in a computer enables use of modern tools for digital signal processing that can be improved easily with emergence of new knowledge and with increasing of computer performances. Presenting the ECG signal in both: Time and Time-Frequency domains enables to cardiologist to obtain more reliable diagnosis. In order to present simultaneously the waveform and spectrogram of ECG signal in the real time we use Fast Fourier and Discrete Wavelet transform in the multithreading environment of a standard personal computer. The synchronization of accessing the signal data by threads according to the principle one thread a time is performed by controlling the state of event type variables

CHANNEL CAPACITY OF THE MACRO-DIVERSITY SC SYSTEM IN THE PRESENCE OF KAPPA-MU FADING AND CORRELATED SLOW GAMMA FADING

    Get PDF
In this paper macrodiversity system consisting of two microdiversity SC (Selection Combiner) receivers and one macrodiversity SC receiver are analyzed. Independent κ-μ fading and correlated slow Gamma fading are present at the inputs to the microdiversity SC receivers. For this system model, analytical expression for the probability density of the signal at the output of the macrodiversity receiver SC, and the output capacity of the macrodiversity SC receiver are calculated. The obtained results are graphically presented to show the impact of Rician κ factor, the shading severity of the channel c, the number of clusters µ and correlation coefficient ρ on the probability density of the signal at the output of the macrodiversity system and channel capacity at the output of the macrodiversity system. Based on the obtained results it is possible to analyze the real behavior of the macrodiversity system in the presence of  κ-μ fading

In this paper, performance analysis of free space optical (FSO) system operating in conditions of strong atmospheric turbulence over Gamma–Chi-square turbulence model, has been carried out. We have observed reception over multi-pulse pulse-position (MPPM) modulation format for the case of strong atmospheric turbulence conditions modeled with Gamma–Chi-square turbulence model and have compared it with turbulence modeling distributions such are: Gamma–Gamma distribution, K-distribution, negative exponential distribution, log–normal distribution. First, we have provided closed-form analytical expressions for average bit error rate (ABER) at the reception for each observed case and then based on them, we have obtained numerical and Monte Carlo simulation results in order to observe turbulence level impact on system performance

In this paper an approach to the performance analysis of hybrid MRCS (Selection Maximal Ratio Combining) diversity system operating over Ricean fading channels is presented. Hybrid MRCS combining method has a simple implementation, where maximal-ratio combined signals are chosen on a selection combining basis. Closed form expressions are provided for standard first and second order statistical measures for the signal at the output of the combiner, i.e. PDF (probability density function), CDF (cumulative distribution function), LCR (level crossing rate). Capitalizing on them standard performance measures like ABEP (Average Bit Error Probability) over some modulation techniques and AFD (Average Fade Duration) are efficiently evaluated and discussed in the function of various system parameters.U ovom radu predložen je pristup za analizu performansi hibridnog Selection Maximal Ratio Combining (MRCS) raznolikog sustava koji radi u Riceovim kanalima.
